  • AE022 - Requires the Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB) option. This is not the same as rear parking sensors. Please do not order this type unless you are 100% certain you have the RAB option. If your vehicle has RAB, there will be a box mounted under the left seat just like the one in the install video. (The left seat is the driver's seat in North America)
  • AE038 - Fits all North American Subaru Forester trims and options. Installs overhead behind the stereo camera similar to how the AE026 installed into previous model years.

Best Solution

I took delivery of my new 2023 Subaru Forester in Australia in late November 2023. I immediately confirmed that my model had the RAB unit under the passenger seat. Prior to delivery I had researched to find the best solution to disable the stop/start function and although many solutions were offered at a lower cost, I preferred the solution of installing the stop/start eliminator cable into the RAB unit. I ordered it and approx 14 days later it arrived from America. Because the stiff carpet was covering the connector into the RAB unit, I had to use a 10mm socket to remove the two retaining nuts holding the RAB unit to slightly move it to unplug the cable from the RAB unit. The trick was finding how to remove the cable plug. There is a small locking lever located in the top centre which needs to be squeezed to release the plug. Overall the installation took about 20minutes and best of all, it works like a charm. I put up with the Stop/Start function on my previous Subaru for 10years. I had no intention of doing the same on my new Subaru. I certainly recommend this solution.

Perfect!

Installed without issue on a '23 Subaru Forester Wilderness. Instructions provided are clear and accurate. Simply connect the device as shown in the demonstration video to the module beneath the driver's seat and you're good to go. Literally couldn't be any easier. You may elect to remove the 2x 8mm bolts for easier access but I didn't find this to be necessary. The construction of the unit I received was solid as well! The pins inside each connector are firmly in place so they won't pop out when mating to the other interconnect and the sheathing around the cable is actually a good quality material. Totally surpassed my expectations in regards to build quality!

Oh, and it works perfectly too. Getchu one!
