I have a 2020 legacy and it took me 20 minutes to install. You just have to be gentle on the plastic and it will all pop. I will never understand why it's better for the environment to remanufacture a new starter then the hole 3 gallons of gas you save while waiting at the light. I have 50,000 miles on my car and saved 3 gallons of gas while sitting with a dead car at a busy intersection. Best thing I ever did for that car was to get this part.

Autostop Eliminator is a must have. Each time you turn the car off and on it comes on and this keeps the last setting in place. A bit pricy but a must have. Fast shipping A++++

I am very pleased with the performance of this product. I installed it two days ago. It was not technically difficult, but it is far more time-consuming than one might think from the video. It took me about 45 minutes.

I want to supply a few tips on installation. First, the 8 mm bolts in the cover assembly are difficult to access. I have a 64-piece Craftsman socket set, and still couldn't get the 8 mm socket to reach the bolt. I had to run to Lowes to buy a 6" extender for the 1/4" socket wrench. So be sure to have that on hand BEFORE you start the installation.

Second, the clips are far more difficult to pry the cover assembly free from than the video suggests. The rear ones came off fine, but I had to work my fingers forward from there, pulling down and shoving the cover assembly back and forth in order to extract it from those front clips. It finally came loose, but it was a job trying to exert enough force without cracking or breaking the plastic.

Third, on my Legacy, there was almost not enough wire on the original plug to allow the it to be shoved forward into the forward opening. After much manipulation, I *FINALLY* got it forward enough to allow me to reinstall the headset.

So it's a great purchase. Just be certain that you have the right tools, and plenty of time and daylight, to do the installation.

Still no issue since May when I got it. Took it to a Subaru dealer for an oil change and nothing was questioned. That's the way I like it! STILL the best $100.00 I ever spent!
